Case IH has unveiled its newest addition to the Steiger lineup: the 785 Quadtrac, which offers a nearly 10 per cent horsepower increase over the previous 715 model. The upgraded tractor features 853 peak horsepower, aimed at enhancing productivity for large-scale farming operations, says Mark Burns, Case IH high-horsepower marketing manager. The higher horsepower enables producers to operate larger implements or cover ground more quickly, Burns says, supported by a 40 per cent torque rise. The Steiger 785 Quadtrac is built for heavy-duty performance while maintaining operator comfort and control, with improved cab features and handling — the Quadtrac was on display for the first time this week at Farm Progress Show at Decatur, Illinois. Burns explains that this new model feature a purpose-built 16L engine, not just a tuned-up version of the previous model. Major updates include injectors, pistons, rings, data sets, transmission, and axles. The heavy-duty suspended track system includes a larger drive wheel for better lug engagement, faster road speeds, and improved operator comfort, Buns says, and the independently suspended idlers and roller wheels offer ±5° of oscillation, ensuring better ground contact, traction, and reduced compaction. The new Steigers also have ease of maintenance in mind, with an electrically actuated hood, tool-less debris shields, external oil dipstick access, and clear hub caps help speed up daily checks. They feature a Case IH-exclusive automatic track tensioning with applied hydraulic tensioning automatically during operation. Those at the show were also treated to a special green version of the machine on display to honour the original Steiger family innovation from the 1950s, though production models will remain Case IH red. Precision agriculture tools are integrated into the system, including AccuTurn Pro and AccuSync, alongside FieldOps, a platform providing field data to support on-farm decision-making. These features are available without a subscription fee. Despite the size and output, the 785 maintains agility and visibility, he says. An optional heavy-duty suspended undercarriage is also available, offering smoother ride quality, enhanced traction, and reduced soil compaction. Additional specifications include a 3-year/2,000-hour warranty and a simplified emissions system that uses SCR-only technology to treat exhaust without impacting engine power. Orders for the Steiger 785 begin September 1, with production in Fargo, North Dakota, USA, scheduled to start in summer 2026.
