A guide on the second boss (Shield Bearer) in Nightfall Sanctuary. Phase 1 --------------------------------------- Attack Pattern (Normal Stance): Frontal swipe (blockable). Jab (unblockable + knock back) + slam (blockable + knock down). Two-hit spin (blockable + knock back). Laser beam & persistent aoe (unblockable). Front/back shield bash (blockable + knock back). x3 jabs with expanding aoe fields (unblockable + knock back). Two aoe stomps (unblockable). Summoner or Assassin party stealth for this. Repeats. Shield Bearer changes its Stance: Boss gains random symbol. Symbols are Fire - Earth - Wind and cycle in that order. One jump = one symbol change. Tank matches symbol. Everyone else should have the previous symbol. Attack Pattern Changes: Starts off with two aoe stomps. Otherwise the SAME as the attack pattern above. Shield Bearer sets Glyphs: Randomly chooses one person and air lifts them, assuming their symbol. Everyone matches the chosen symbol (displayed on the boss). Instantly kill mechanic cast shortly after and kills all non-matching symbols. Shield Bearer activates the Emperor's Glyph Barrier: Death zone outside of the octagon. First CC we stunned (optional). Second CC we KD (knock down, MUST be done). When the boss recovers from the KD it'll fire a laser aimed at the tank. The tank MUST bait the laser to hit the circle at 1'o clock, thus activating it for crossing mechanics. Attack Pattern Melee: Starts off with two aoe stomps. Fires missile at the furthest after two-hit spin Otherwise the SAME as the attack pattern above. Crossing Mechanics: Assign crossing order from 1-12. People one at a time will stand in the circle, wait for the buff and then move from circle to circle within the death zone. The buff only lasts for 8 seconds! Your symbol MUST match the circle's symbol to gain the buff. Avoid red lasers by jumping or iframing. Remember that jumping will change your symbol. Lines will cycle through symbols. Factor this as you move from circle to circle. Before you come back to the boss, ensure your symbol does not match the symbol on the boss! (Unless you are the ranged tank). Attack Pattern Range: Roughly half way into crossing it changes stance from melee to range. Jab, slam, two-hit spin, missile (at furthest), three-hit jab. Most of these attacks knock back. Simply side-step to avoid. CC bar opens. KD immediately. Fires laser on recovery. Repeats pattern. Shield Bearer sets Glyphs: Randomly chooses one person and air lifts them, assuming their symbol. Everyone matches the chosen symbol (displayed on the boss). Instantly kill mechanic cast shortly after and kills all non-matching symbols. The Shield Bearer reasonates with the Emperor's Glyph: Four furthest people trapped in the air. Boss gains 5 stacks. Coordinate the timings to step into the circles around the edge of the map (8 in total). Each circle provides a buff, removes 1 stack from the boss, and damages roughly 100m of its health. All 5 stacks must be cleansed. Ends phase with dark aoe that kills everything with no buff (excluding the four people in the air). Phase 1 ends. Phase 2 starts --------------------------------------- Phase 2 is similar to Phase 1; except it moves to each mechanic much faster. The two aoe stomps are more common in Phase 2. Phase 3 --------------------------------------- Phase 3 is the final phase. DPS race. Attack pattern as follows: laser beam, front & back shield bash, three jabs, (CC KD), fires laser. Repeats. After second attack rotation it will drop a high damage persistent aoe. Start with HM Block then shealth. Repeats until dead. Notes: 1. Deaths during crossing makes the boss gain stacks and heals it. 35 stacks = enrage. 2. All 5 stacks during resonance must be cleansed. 3.Normal/Melee stance = melee tank. Range stance = range tank.
