I Had a chance to use my new soft plastic prototype called the Splitter when I was pollock fishing today, as you can see in the video I got in a bit of trouble when I was daydreaming and the fish took me straight in the weed, the best way to deal with this is to hold the fish tight but don’t pull and jerk the line be patient giving the fish line slowly by lowering the rod so it thinks it has a chance to escape then when you feel it kicking wind in and when it comes free pull it out and up to the surface, if that doesn’t work like it didn’t here in this video don’t pull up on the rod that’s only stressing the rod, point the rod tip down so the line is going straight from the reel to the fish and slowly pull back with your hand on the spool so it doesn’t move and slowly take up the strain and hold it if your lucky you’ll get the fish like I did here if not the hook will bend or tear the weed and you get your lure back, which is always a bonus. About the Splitter, the reason I invented this lure was for movement, I believe a bait has to have movement for a predictor to accept that this soft plastic bait is worth attacking and i wanted to be able to create a bait that wasn’t so soft so when you catch a fish the bait isn’t torn apart the first fish you catch it’s tougher but maintains the realistic action because of the splits in its body, hence the name “Splitter”. So I put the smallest splitter we do on a 2/0 3g twistlock weighted worm hook so all together weighs just over 10gram. It looks great in the water and it’s a very versatile lure, you can jig it, twitch it on the bottom swim it back on a straight retrieve and see it’s little tail wobble like a fish being chased by a predictor fish. The Splitter will be available this year 2019 in sizes 115mm, 140mm, 168mm.
