Gold Hill in Shaftesbury Dorset, has become iconic over the years, thanks to Ridley Scott's TV commercial (1973) for Hovis Bread. The hill, steep and cobbled, doubled up as a lane in Yorkshire, but no, it's way down south in the ancient hilltop town of Shaftesbury, in the West Country! It's one of the highest towns in England with far reaching views. The cottages down the hill date from the mid-15th century. We're just out of LOCKDOWN as we head off to Dorset. Enroute, we stop to photograph the 'Fovant Military Badges' on the A30 not far from Shaftesbury. We're on a short break, to see this iconic hill for the first time!
