CSX Sand Patch Grade & The Magnolia Cutoff - Springtime Sensation 2025 This production is concentrated on just a very few miles at or near Mance, Pennsylvania. This is near the peak of CSX's former B&O Sand Patch Grade. Also highlighted is a day trip to the Magnolia Cutoff in very early May during a beautiful sunny Spring day!!!!!! Filmed in just the SPRING months of April and May 2025 with one "webcam/livestream" shot included for historical purposes from the Mance Post Office Livestream! Be sure to check out the livestream! The Horseshoe Curve at Mance was constructed to gain elevation for the train in as short a distance as possible. This results in a very tight curve that in person can be "deafening" in terms of wheel flange squealing. The 'squealing' is included in this production at times to be accurate to what the trains actually sound like. The Old Mance Post Office is in the process of being refurbished so that it can be preserved for future generations. The location is unique on the CSX being at near the apex of the Horseshoe curve at Mance, at an elevation of 207.89 feet... with just 2 hundred more feet to the summit just a few miles upgrade! For generations this location has been a highpoint of the Sand Patch Grade, going back to the steam era when Bill Price & his companions would hike around the curves capturing classic B&O EM1 Steam locomotives and B&O produced wagon top cabooses working this important railroad line. A note on the audio: All railroad/train audio is 100% recorded at the time of filming. "Canned" / Generic audio train sound recordings are never used. Thank you so much for looking!
