Kitchen Cabinet Build Part 23 - Dressing Up Boring Cabinet Ends with Shaker Wainscoting - SBW#56

Rather than have plain exposed cabinet sides I'll be dressing up those boring cabinet ends with Shaker Wainscoting. The technique I'm using is quite simple. All I need to do is cut strips of wood that are 1/4" thick and create the same profile as my doors which will be easy since I have a profile template. I went with the same style that matches the doors on my cabinets so it would look uniform. Watch how I transform flat-sided cabinets (both lower and upper) into something a little less boring. You can do this with any cabinet side and any style, just think of the detail you want to put on the sides and start building up the profile until you get your desired detail. If you're doing it on already finished (stained or painted) sides you'll first need to rough up the area you're going to use glue on with 220 grit sandpaper otherwise the glue will not stick.
