Ctenophores, also known as comb jellies, are a group of marine invertebrates characterized by their distinctive, comb-like cilia they use for locomotion. These creatures are notable for their beautiful, often transparent bodies that can display a stunning array of iridescent colors. Unlike jellyfish, with which they are sometimes confused, ctenophores do not have stinging cells. Instead, they capture prey with sticky cells at their tentacles or by engulfing them with their body. They are found in a wide range of marine environments, from surface waters to the deep sea. Ctenophores are considered important for understanding the evolution of multicellular organisms because they are part of the earliest branching lineages separate from other well-known animal groups. Research on ctenophores has also contributed to our understanding of the origins of nervous systems and muscle cells. The ctenophores in this video are between 4 mm and 1 cm in diameter. The videography is by Igor Adameyko. The music was written by Alex Wit aka Ligt_Music at Pixabay (https://pixabay.com/users/40074088/ the track name is "Galactic Journey").
