In this Video, Dr Kaiser Raja, a Consultant in Liver Diseases, Transplant Hepatology, Gastroenterology & Advanced Endoscopy, tells you about the interesting story of Mr. Abu Tahir. Mr.Tahir suffered from a severe liver problem called liver cirrhosis which had been going on for four years. He had severe jaundice, fluid accumulation in his body, and swelling of his abdomen and legs. Unfortunately, Mr. Tahir was told about a liver transplant 2 years ago, but it was not something that was accessible to him. He approached many foundations, and many hospitals, but there was nothing in sight which would help him get a transplant. Finally, he approached us at King’s College Hospital in Dubai. We helped him understand his disease, do a pre-transplant evaluation, and motivate him and his family that a transplant is the best solution for them. From here, we guided him and his family to the Al Jalila Foundation. The Al Jalila Foundation supports medical treatment for individuals unable to afford quality healthcare, and we are very thankful to the foundation in this case. They helped Mr Tahir for the entire process of this transplantation, for the pre-transplant evaluation, for the transplant surgery, and even for a limited period of his post-transplant care.
