In this clip from NSW Parliament, I question the Minister for Customer Service and Digital Government, representing the Minister for the Environment, about the urgent need to preserve the Wallum site in Brunswick Heads. With the NSW Government facing a $6 billion biodiversity offset deficit, including a shortfall of 42,000 credits for glossy black cockatoos, I ask whether the Wallum site will be considered for conservation acquisition under the Biodiversity Conservation Trust’s (BCT) Revolving Fund Program. Our communities have made it clear: this ecologically significant site must be protected. The climate and biodiversity crises require strong, proactive government leadership—not more excuses.
