Factory is a safe haven for the forgotten toys who still cling to their sanity. And watching over them is the lovable, if unstable Doey the Doughman… As soon as I learned about Doey I knew I had to do something with him. In fact, I’d written the chorus to this song in my head within about 30 minutes of his reveal! Three characters squeezed into one mind and forced to work together, fighting for a sense of identity that was robbed from them, was such fertile ground for interesting writing. Why did I decide to do this live action with a horrifying costume? Why did I not simply hire an animator and instead spend 5 hours having dough glued to my face two days in a row? Why did we construct 12 or so metres of giant tunnels in the studio instead of opting for motion graphics? Why do I do this to myself and more pertinently, to your eyes? Sometimes you have an idea and you just gotta roll with it, frankly. I can only apologise. I am a being fuelled by crazed whimsy and I wanted to be dough.
