Tera Pro’s RingZ module has just dropped, and is lovely. It is inspired by Mutable Instruments’ Rings and adds various types of physical modeling synthesis to Tera Pro, most specifically various resonator components but also some nice effects. Resonator Types: • Modal Resonator: Simulates bars, plates, strings. • Sympathetic Strings: Emulates strings responding to other vibrations, adding overtones/undertones. • Non-linear/Inharmonic Strings: Extended Karplus-Strong method, adding complexity. • 2-op FM: Frequency modulation synthesis with specific controls. • Western Chords: Sympathetic strings tuned to chords. • Karplusverb: Combines non-linear strings with reverb. • Easter Egg: An organ/string machine synth. 2. Control Knobs: • Structure: Adjusts frequency ratios, influencing timbre, adjusts chord type in some modes. • Brightness: Controls harmonic content and tone. • Damping: Modifies sound’s sustain and decay. • Position: Alters listening position or adjusts effect parameters amount. 3. Input and Polyphony: Accepts various input signals, offers adjustable polyphony, and includes a ‘Strum’ function for dynamic play. Various LFOs etc can be assigned as modulation sources, including for input modulation, eg bringing in rhythmic textures or white noise for blowing sounds, and to do ‘strumming’ effects. There are some inbuilt FX options for the Rings module, like Chorus, Ensemble, Reverb and Formant Filters.
