"Ishikawa Rhapsody (石川ラプソディ)", 2000. Safety Blanket formed in 1998. The group released a few demos throughout the year and later joined the BreakOut series/label in early 1999. Safety Blanket appeared on a few BreakOut VHS's throughout 1999, but eventually departed from the label in 2000. In May of 2000, the group appeared on the "Crush and Burn" omnibus and later released their first mini-album, "Ishikawa Rhapsody (石川ラプソディ)", that November. The album was a smash success in the underground music scene and in March of 2001, one of their songs, "Koe (声)", was covered as a single by popular owarai duo London Boots 1 Gou 2 Gou (ロンドンブーツ1号2号) although by the summer of 2001, Safety Blanket had its first lineup change when guitarist Yoshitaka and drummer Ayako left. They were then both respectively replaced by Toshi (トシ) and Misao (みさお) and in November of 2001, the group appeared on the "Yokohama Factory" omnibus although Safety Blanket would not release any material throughout 2002, instead focusing on touring throughout the year. In early 2003, Misao and bassist Satoru (サトル) both left, and were then respectively replaced by Yuu (有) and Takashi (孝志) and in August of 2003, Safety Blanket released their second mini-album "Life is a Picnic", which was their first album release in nearly 3 years. Despite the lengthy break in between releases, the album was another massive underground success for the group and Safety Blanket went on to tour throughotu the remainder of 2003 and the first half of 2004 heavily, before abruptly splitting in the summer of 2004. After Safety Blanket's sudden split, all of the members of the group then appeared to have retired from the underground music scene.
