Billy Lee Riley (1933-2009) was a rockabilly artist that was part of the legendary Sun Records roster in the second half of the 1950s. He would put out songs such as "Flying Saucers Rock and Roll" and "Red Hot" - but unfortunately he was overshadowed by some of his labelmates including Jerry Lee Lewis, in which Sam Phillips chose to promote over Riley. But Riley would continue to be involved in music, working as a session musician for several artists. In the last years of his life, he would help promote the history of rockabilly music and early rock and roll. I visit Riley's birthplace (where a historical marker is) in Pocahontas, Arkansas. I then visit his grave in Newport, Arkansas (about 50 miles southwest of Pocahontas).
