A medieval lament sung by a Viking widow for her husband who never returned from the longship voyage to Englaland. A song of sea, sorrow, broken oaths, and the silence left after battle. Female solo voice with wailing choir, inspired by early medieval Nordic tradition and the age of the first raids. Lyrics: [Verse I] The sea still keeps the echo of your oaths, my warrior bold, Where your longship cut the dawn and vanished into gold. Cold waves whisper Engla land, the shore you sought to claim, And I stand where gulls still circle, calling out your name. [Chorus – Wailing Choir] Ooooh—aaaahhh… Bring him home, O winds that carry broken prayers. Ooooh—iii—aaaahhh… Let not his helm sleep under foreign, blood-wet airs. Ooooh—aaaahhh… For I am but a widow of the waves. [Verse II] Autumn fell upon the fjord the night your fate was sealed, When ravens gathered silently above the empty field. Men whispered of the Saxon blades that rose against your kin, And how no northern banner flew when daylight failed again. [Chorus – Choir + Soloist] Ooooh—aaaahhh… O currents, cruel as Fenrir’s chains, deliver me his shade. Ooooh—iii—aaaahhh… Let me touch the salt-wet cloth of the shroud the sea has made. Ooooh—aaaahhh… For love cannot be buried by the tide. [Bridge – Whispered Chant] Engla land… iron rivers… Shields broken… oaths swallowed by the deep… If he walks among the fallen, guide him to my dream… [Final Chorus] Ooooh—aaaahhh… Carry his memory on the wings of storm and foam, Ooooh—iii—aaaahhh… Until the North Star leads him to the longhouse of our home. Ooooh—aaaahhh… And let the sea, at last, release its hold.
