TRUE STORY On April 4th, 1984, a bus began its journey from Lunglei to Haulawng. During a stop at one of the stations, the driver encountered an old friend and invited him to join the trip as a co-driver. His friend accepted the invitation and boarded the bus. About an hour later, the bus arrived at the Tlawng River, where all the passengers disembarked for a short break. Unbeknownst to the others, the driver's friend and a female passenger slipped into the nearby forest, apparently taking a longer break. When it was time to continue the journey, the driver searched for them and called out for them to reboard. However, they returned in an intoxicated state. As they resumed their seats, the driver, seemingly unaffected by the delay, accelerated rapidly. Tragically, at around 9:00 a.m., the bus was involved in an accident, marking a disastrous end to what had begun as a routine journey.
