In 1964, a large lantern was installed, converting it into a manned lighthouse with the function of marking the land. In 2001, the lighthouse underwent comprehensive maintenance and was reborn with a new design inspired by the three-story stone pagoda of Gameunsa Temple, in honor of King Munmu. The Songdaemal Light Experience Exhibition Hall was established to allow visitors to vividly experience the history of the lighthouse. The hall offers various content that visually represents the transformation of the lighthouse over the years. Visitors can interact with historical lighthouses and learn about the past and present of Songdaemal Lighthouse. Additionally, the sea below Songdaemal Lighthouse, where a concrete fish farm was created by Japanese colonial government officials for enjoying sashimi and leisure during the Japanese occupation, is now famous for snorkeling.
