Mercenary: Escape from Targ, is another one of those amazing ground-breaking triumphs which emerged in the mid 1980's. The game is still great, and huge, but perhaps a little too difficult without a little help? Production Notes: This was requested on the lemon64 poll. I intended to make the video in the space of one week but in the end it was a stretch. I recorded most of a whole playthru last week but my craft got blown up, so I had to record it all again. This time the audio had a very bad sync error; so I had to re-align the game SFX up between every few doors, and so the sound sync took several hours. The map idea took another day, and it didnt turn out as planned (you cant read the labels, and is a room reference only), and the green arrows don't seem to help much. The map was scanned as x4 A4 sections from the original and put back together with Paint Shop Pro, and then a few rooms were coloured-in using a 50% transparent brush. After the video edit, the audio sync, maps and arrows, I thought I had just had enough time to do the voiceover and start the audio balancing. Unfortunately I ran out of time with the balancing, and so the narration GETS GRADUALLY LOUDER! as the film goes on. Sorry about that. I did consider delaying the video; but it would be very time consuming and very boring to fix it; so in the end I just had to release it 'as is'. The last things to be added was the box art and the key controls overlay. I also tried to make the ending quieter but now it goes too quiet in the middle of the scores. I had to go back and fix a few more bugs before the deadline. There are a few bugs in there, like I say the first item is worth 6k when it is worth 60k, and maps disappearing and stuff like that, but nothing which breaks the review (hopefully).
