In this video, you will see an Airbus A320 powered by two CFM56-5B4 and a Boeing 737-800 powered by two CFM56-7B26 -- both aircraft taxiing and taking off. Can you guess the right aircraft just by hearing its sound? Which one do you like best? Find out here! The CFM56 is amidst the most popular jet engines in the world. It was first introduced in 1974, with the CFM56-2 series powering aircraft such as the Douglas DC-8-70 but gained more market with the CFM56-3 series, which power the Boeing 737 classic (-300, 400 & -500). Shortly afterwards, the CFM56-4 series were an option the power the first Airbus A320 variants, with the CFM56-5A and CFM-56-5B series coming as a more modern engine option for the A320 family. Also, the CFM56 was the only engine option for the first Airbus A340 family (-200 & -300 variants), with the CFM56-5C series. Finally, the CFM56-7 series is the sole engine option for the Boeing 737 Next Generation (-600, -700, -700ER, -800, -900 & -900ER variants).
