Rizal Park Open-Air Auditorium, City of Manila June 5, 2025 The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), in collaboration with the Civil Relations Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (CRSAFP) through its Media and Civil Affairs Group (MCAG), successfully held this year’s Musikalayaan — an annual tribute that highlights patriotism and national identity through music and stage performances celebrating the enduring spirit of Philippine independence — at the Rizal Park Open-Air Auditorium in the City of Manila. With the theme, 'Pagtatanghal para sa Karagatan ng Pilipinas: Our Seas, Our Rights, Our Future,' the musical theatre aimed to promote national consciousness about the importance of safeguarding the West Philippine Sea (WPS) and upholding the country's maritime sovereignty. The event showcased dynamic musical and dance performances by uniformed personnel from the Philippine Army (PA), Philippine Navy (PN), Philippine Air Force (PAF), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG). Adding to the vibrant program were special presentations by the Philippine Army Marching Band, National University-Tanghalang Nasyunal, and the Indayaw Dance Company from Signal Village National High School in Taguig City. Another highlight of the evening was the performance of artist-reservists who graced the stage with their talents. They included SGT Geneva Cruz, PAF (Res); 1LT Ronnie Liang, PA (Res); SGT Khimo Goemon C. Gumatay, PAF (Res); SGT Ramona Cecilia D. Munoz, PAF (Res); and MU2 Ernani Lazaro M. Cuenco, PN (Res). Beyond entertainment, Musikalayaan 2025 served as a powerful platform to promote national unity and deepen public understanding of the Philippines’ sovereign rights and national interests in the WPS. Through the universal language of music and culture, the event aimed to inspire Filipinos to stand together in safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity while celebrating its rich cultural heritage.
