"Soloem for Chicago: the stand out on flat" Ed Roberson This poem is part of the Chicago Soul Poem: A City That Writes Together project, created by avery r. young, Chicago’s inaugural Poet Laureate. The project invited Chicagoans to pay tribute to a person, place, or thing that is indicative of the Second City through the form of a soloem. A soloem (pronounced so-lo-em) is a new poetic form created by young. The full project includes 31 videos, and all can be seen at Chicago.gov/PoetLaureate. The Chicago Poet Laureate program is a partnership between the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, the Chicago Public Library, and the Poetry Foundation. The project also received funding from the Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellowship. Event Management was provided by Kendall Karg Consulting, with additional logistical and production services by Bianca Marks, Marks on Canvas.
