The region is sometimes known as "Little New Zealand." Located at the crossroads of the B512 (Nuwara Eliya to Horton Plains Road) and the B507 (Nuwara Eliya to Horton Plains Road) (21km from NuwaraEliya) ( Ambewela to Rendapola Road). At 1,827.77 m (5,996.6 ft) above sea level, Ambewela railway station is Sri Lanka's second highest railway station. It's in the Nuwara Eliya District, Central Province, on the Main Line between the Nanu Oya and Perakumpura railway stations. Ambewela Farm, which spans 150 acres, is well-known throughout the island for its dairy products, with its own line of products sold at various markets all over the country. Here, cows graze freely on the farm's beautiful fields, and the sky is almost always sparkling blue. The calm farm is a nice place to visit away from the hustle and bustle of the metropolis, with wind turbines dotting the terrain in the distance. The region's environment can be very cool, with yearly temperatures plunging below 17°C, but it's typically not too cold, and the fresh winds will lull you into a state of complete relaxation. The farm is normally open from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. every day, but it's advisable to contact ahead and see whether they're open before going because they do close for extended periods of time.
