First look: Skoda Elroq RS

Skoda’s mid-size electric SUV has a new performance version called Elroq RS. It was revealed at Milan Design Week and boasts the usual RS treatment, which includes performance-themed exterior styling, upgraded materials inside, and a higher power output thanks to its twin-motor setup.  The Skoda Elroq RS uses a dual-motor setup to develop a combined system output of 340hp or 250kW. Acceleration is brisk, with a 0 to 100km/h sprint taking 5.4 seconds, while the top speed is 180km/h. For comparison, the Elroq 50 has an output of 170 hp and takes 9 seconds to reach 100km/h.  Powering the dual-motor setup is a 77kWh (usable capacity) battery that can store enough energy to provide a driving range of more than 560 kilometres in WLTP conditions. The battery has peak charging rates of 185kW at DC chargers, enabling a 10 to 80 per cent top up in around 26 minutes.
