Celebrated in city of Friedrichshafen, Seehasenfest is one of the biggest festivals celebrated every year since 1949! 📍Friedrichshafen,Germany History: After the city of Friedrichshafen was almost completely destroyed by the bomb attacks after the Second World War, the children in particular should have been able to celebrate a festival of joy and hope again. Due to the great commitment of the then municipal council, led by Mayor Dr. Max Grünbeck as well as Konstantin Schmäh, the "father of the sea hare", and through the active support of schools and many committed citizens, the Friedrichshafen sea hare festival finally took place on the 25th. July 1949 its premiere. The Seehas is the main character of the festival and represents the festival at numerous public events. The naming of the festival was quite simple, because the residents of Lake Constance have always been called sea hares. So it was an obvious choice for the city fathers in 1949. Where the origin of the term sea hare lies can only be assumed: it was possibly a jumping hare that can be seen on the field sign of the Roman castle Constantia (Konstanz). The catching up of the sea hay by ship has been taking place since 1950. The guests of honor drive out to Lake Constance with numerous children, citizens on three passenger ships on Lake Bunny Saturday and catch up with the Seehas. The Seehas is greeted in the harbor with salute shots from the Bürgergarde and then makes his way to the town hall to give the first graders of all schools in Friedrichshafen the rabbit clover - a cloth bag filled with sweets, carousel vouchers and toys. This tradition was already created in 1955. With the traditional drumming and a festive performance of the students of a Friedrichshafen school, the Seehasenfest opens on Thursday evening. On Monday, the sea bunny festival comes to an end and the farewell to the lake hare approaches. While the children say goodbye to him cheering with green and white flags, the home song is sung. Finally, the Seehas is presented with a basket of fresh carrots and drives out onto the lake with a boat from the water protection police.
