Book 42, Anna Holden's Strathspey, (S8x32) 2C (4C set), Tuesday afternoon dancers, Wellington Devised by John Drewry 1991 Anna Holden’s Strathspey was danced by the Tuesday afternoon dancers (‘general’ group) on July 18, 2023. We used the beautiful piano music by Muriel Johnstone which appears in ‘Dancing Fingers 3’. Tuesday afternoon dancing started in late 2018 and takes place in St John’s church hall in Johnsonville, Wellington. The group is not affiliated with a club and caters for dancers of intermediate level and above. People come to Johnsonville from throughout the Wellington district and enjoy the opportunity to meet and dance with those from different areas and clubs. The ‘general’ group meets on the third Tuesday of the month, and also on the fifth Tuesday when there is one. Our tutor is Catherine McCutcheon, who also tutors the Tawa SCD Club. We do mostly popular and well-known dances, and dances from upcoming programmes. An ‘advanced’ group, for those who enjoy more of a challenge, meets on the second and fourth Tuesday afternoons, with a variety of local tutors. They’ve included Catherine McCutcheon, Maureen Robson, Melva Waite, Rod Downey, Gaye Collin, Damon Collin and Iain Boyd. The atmosphere at Tuesday afternoon dancing is friendly and relaxed. If you happen to be visiting Wellington, there will always be a welcome.
