Ben Vorlich and Stùc a' Chroin form two of the most south-easterly Munros in the Scottish Highlands. Ben Vorlich, rising above Loch Earn, is one of the most popular and accessible Munros in Scotland and can be very busy during the summer months. The mountain deserves its popularity, representing a long and steep but fairly technically easy climb to a shapely and surprisingly narrow summit ridge. Ben Vorlich is often climbed in isolation during the winter months but the more adventurous walker will also tag on Stùc a' Chroin, a second Munro lying to the south. The most interesting feature of the Stùc is its northern buttress, which represents a serious and potentially dangerous undertaking in winter conditions, but a fine scramble during the summer. This video captures an ascent of both mountains in early spring, with remaining winter snows representing an extra challenge.
