Unique and Quirky Waterford begins with the presenter, a native of Waterford stepping off the plane in Waterford Airport, having spent over a decade in Australia. In a few action packed days he tries to immerse himself in all things Waterford has to offer the ‘culturally curious’ visitor. He gets off the beaten track to meet the people of the Deise, eats their food and samples their drinks. His adventures take him from finding out why the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte has his hair here and Henry VIII only surviving clothes. He finds a WWI submarine bomb that was used by a family as a hot water bottle, and learns the trick to avoid a heart attack while swimming in the Guillamene during winter. He tests out the legend of the Metal Man, and gets to the truth of why round towers were built, before spending an evening up to high jinx in possibly Ireland most luxury boutique hotel. Part 1 takes the viewer on a journey from Waterford Airport and into the Viking Triangle on the first day. On Day two Kevin visits Woodstown and Dunmore East before heading off to the Guillamene and the Metal man at Tramore. Kevin discovers a County full of enthusiastic people with lots to offer the ‘culturally curious’ visitor. This video was produced with about 200 hours of filming and 700 of editing and preproduction planning on a budget of about 150 euro (helped considerably by low fuel consumption from our Toyota Yaris hybrid, thanks Bill McConnell!).
