The Stihl was equipped with Stihl full chisel non safety chain, and the Husqvarna had the X-Cut by Husqvarna. Both chains were brand new and matched to the saws. The 390xp didn't have a muffler. At some point it must have fallen off and Kyetin doesn't have the replacement yet. We don't know if that affected the outcome of this test, but most reports are that the Husqvarna cuts faster if it's working properly. I believe the X-cut chain is the fastest cutting chain available and that could be a relevant factor in this race. But you have to remember, the branded chain of each saw brand comes pre cut in the sizes needed by the saws of that manufacture. So you wouldn't likely be able to get the right size matching chain for both saws unless you use Oregon, which we do not use due to quality issues.
