South Carolina Police Chase Excavator in 3 MPH Pursuit | BWC Video

North Charleston police released body-worn camera footage of a truly bizarre incident involving a suspect who stole an excavator and led officers on an hour-long pursuit at walking speed through the city’s streets. On June 2, 2025, around 3:30 a.m., officers spotted a large excavator slowly moving down U.S. Highway 78. Minutes later, they received a call about a nearby burglary and confirmed the excavator was connected to the break-in. With lights and sirens activated, officers began a 3 MPH pursuit. The chase, which lasted over an hour, ended when the heavy equipment got stuck on the Charleston County Fairgrounds property. The suspect tried to flee on foot, but was tracked by a drone and apprehended by a K-9 unit. No injuries were reported.
