Description of the Ropewalk with Carriage Purpose: The ropewalk is a specialized model-making device designed for producing ropes and cords by twisting several threads together. It allows for the creation of realistic rigging in scale, particularly useful in ship modeling, aircraft modeling, and handicrafts. Construction of the set: Main Ropewalk Unit: The construction is fully mounted on bearings, ensuring smooth and quiet operation. The drive is transmitted via a timing belt and gear system, which guarantees even rotation of the hooks. A 120 W electric motor provides stable twisting even under higher loads. Three hooks mounted on the shaft are used to attach the threads. Carriage with disk (“talerzyk”): An independent unit powered by a motor with a reduction gearbox, which ensures slow and uniform movement. Equipped with a rotating disk through which the threads pass. During operation, the carriage moves along the rope, maintaining tension and ensuring an even twist. Control panel: Operates alternately with either the main ropewalk unit or the carriage (switching is done by reconnecting the cable). Equipped with a main power switch and smooth speed control. Power supply: External 12 V DC power supply connected to the control panel. Operating principle: The threads are mounted between the hooks of the main unit and the disk on the carriage. The control panel powers the main ropewalk unit – the hooks start rotating and twisting the threads into a rope. After the initial twisting, the power cable is switched to the carriage. The carriage, moving slowly thanks to the reduction gearbox, guides the disk along the rope, giving it the final and uniform lay. The finished rope is detached and ready for use in the model.
