Today on the Church242 Halftime Show, Pastor Sean and Coach Turner were joined by special guest, Zoey Zeron. The crew discussed Sunday's message in Mark 4 where Jesus begins teaching the crowds using parables to help them understand what Kingdom growth looks like. The crew talked about the parables of the soil, the lamp, and the seed. As they unpacked the parables, they discussed how in various seasons we can find ourselves with our hearts not being fully receptive to the will of God and how we need to continue to pray for full dependence and obedience on Him. The encouragement that Jesus gave to His disciples and to us today is that we are not responsible for the growth of the seed in someone's heart. That's on Jesus. We're just called to sow the seed. In the second half, the team shifted to discussing a current trend in the western church where Gen Z men are coming to church for the first time and Gen Z women are leaving. This is a troubling revelation and one that has much complexity to it. Amongst many reasons, the crew discuss: -Men are finding that the church is a place where their masculinity is not labeled as 'toxic' and they can come and use their strength for Kingdom purposes. -At the same time, women are being told that in order to be complete, they need to pursue the things of the world and break free from the 'patriarchy' of the church.
