This is for all those who want to know how some #nandoschicken Restaurants treat #nutallergy sufferers and also some of their suspect #racialprofiling behaviour. I’ve honestly been a fan of Nando’s for years and I think the company as a whole are probably quite good to their customers. But I just wanted to share a surprisingly bad experience I had with the staff at the Manchester Printworks branch recently. On Sunday 15th February 2026 just after 7pm I placed an online order for my family of 4 using their app. I then immediately called the site and informed them that it was a nut allergy order and asked if they could cook it separately. Becky the manager answered and explained that other managers who had done it for me before were wrong to do so and that they CANNOT cater for allergy orders via the phone. She cancelled my order refunded me and asked me to come into the site and place a new order in person. I drove into town, arrived at the restaurant and while Becky was busy her assistant Leon came to serve me. I said I was happy to wait for Becky because we had already started the conversation but Leon insisted that he can deal with it. I read out the exact order and he then asked if it was all an allergy order which I said yes please cook it all separately and let it come with the usual allergy stickers on the boxes. Leon then refused to take the order because it’s all one order and because the rice says ‘May contain Nuts.’ I asked if this was a joke and he said he was serious. At that point I said separate the order then and I will have the child meal as one and then the adult full platter as a separate order, which he refused to do. He carried on to patronise me and kept saying Nandos treats allergies very seriously and it is against their policy to now serve customers an order if it is all together. I said I cant believe this, do you mind me recording this since its not right. He said he would prefer if I didn’t, so I didn’t. I then said, I’ll just order the child meal, he took my order I paid the £28 on card and he sent off the order to get made. As he was about to serve someone else I said I have changed my mind and I wanted to order extra food. I tried to place an extra order which contained spicy rice to which he stated he was going to cancel my order because he wasn’t allowed to serve me. I then said I am going to record this conversation and the discrimination he was using against people with allergies. Even though I started recording the situation I didn’t bother filming his face, but then he didn’t even want to serve me at all and wanted to call the Printworks security on me. I then decided to film Leon’s face so we can all see the person who wants to discriminate against allergy sufferers. I have a lot of respect for Nando’s and the Printworks security, having been a customer there for nearly 20 years, but I am not sure if it was a case of racial profiling but they sent 2 security staff to come to speak to me and then a further 2 to also surround me like I was some form of criminal whilst I was just trying to understand why I could not place an allergy order? Eventhough I paid on card the £28, not sure if it was out of guilt Leon then took £30 out of the till and gave it to me and my refund receipt. Once Becky the manager confirmed to me she only wanted to speak outside and would give me the details to complain to her bosses we all went outside to chat briefly. I spoke to the security for a few minutes more who I had known for 20 years and after their shock of what they had heard about the NUT allergy issue and Leon refusing to serve me I calmly and sadly just wished them good night and decided to go to the restaurant we order the most from. I then drove to the Manchester Fort branch which was very busy but the assistant manager Edward was shouting out for any allergy orders to come to the front which I did and he recognised me and treated me good as usual. I told him the precise same order which I had just been refused at The Printworks branch and he repeated my order and stated the usual “I must warn you that the rice is produced in a place that may or may not have come into contact with nuts but will keep that item separate and we will label up the other items as allergy and will be cooked after the staff have cleaned down the grill”. Excellent customer service as usual and our full order came within 10 mins and the main manager Holly came over with it once ready handed it over and we chatted briefly when I told her of my experience I had just suffered at the Printworks which she was totally shocked since she appreciated that there was no reason at all for them to behave the way they did. I eventually got home a hour later with the kids upset with the time it took and I didn’t have the heart to tell them the real reason but did say that the first place I went to couldn’t serve me due to the need to make it separately as an allergy order which they just looked at me confused
