See the sights and hear the sounds of Coolangatta on a Sunday afternoon in early Spring. In this video we begin in a backstreet, make our way quickly around the corner onto the main street and then walk up towards Coolangatta Beach where we walk the length of it taking in all that is happening - including body boarding, beach volleyball, swimming, sunbathing, sandcastle building and people just generally enjoying the day - many people. Considering that the water has still not fully warmed up after winter, it is incredible just how many people are out enjoying themselves in the ocean. Coolangatta - on the Southern end of the Gold Coast is world famous and was once the home of the Coolangatta Gold Surf Life Saving Competition. It is now a very popular holiday destination and is home of the Cooly Rocks On Festival - a Rock N' Roll festival that features music, clothing and cars from the 1950's & 1960's. People and artists come from all over the world to join in on the fun. I will certainly be filming from next years Cooly Rocks On which takes place in June each year. Unfortunately my GoPro had not arrived in time for me to film this year, but I did go and had a great time. On this walk, we start at the northern end of Coolangatta Beach and walk towards Greenmount with Rainbow Bay and Snapper Rocks in view just beyond. From the beach, we make our way back up to Marine Parade and walk in a northerly direction along the shared cycle way and footpath before crossing over onto the other side of the Parade where all the cafes, bars and restaurants are located. As it is lunchtime there are hundreds of people enjoying their meals and drink. I was tempted to stop for a cold one at the Coolangatta Hotel myself after the walk along the beach, but for the sake of the video - I kept on walking. Anyway, I digress... From Marine Parade we head on back down to the quieter main street where the video eventually finishes. I packed in quite a lot for a 40 minute video. I will go back to Coolangatta on other days as life on the Gold Coast is never static - things are ever changing and are always exciting - especially as the weather warms up. You may notice some stores closed down along the main street - this was due to border closures during the pad demic which made it near impossible for residents of NSW or any other state to come to Coolangatta which is on one side of the Queensland / New South Wales border, with Tweed Heads on the other side of the border. Coolangatta and Tweed Heads are known as the Twin Towns as they are interconnected and interwoven with each other. The lockdowns and border closure was devastating for so many businesses on both sides of the border. *You can see the border in 2 of my previous videos - one labelled Coolangatta and the other labelled Kirra Beach* I do hope you enjoyed this Aussie Adventure with me.
