The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, has advocated for the amendment of Nigeria’s constitution to accommodate some of the concerns of Muslims and the Shari’a law. The CJN made this known while declaring the 20th Annual Judges Conference open at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria Faculty of Law’s Moot Court. Justice Muhammad urged academicians to champion the cause of redesigning the methods of teaching Shari’a law as the implementation of his suggestions would be more feasible if universities give the Shari’a law its own faculty. He is also called for the teaching of Sharia law in Arabic as against the English language, which is being used, challenging academics to ensure that the course is taught in Arabic. Well joining us later from our Arise Abuja Studio to discuss this amongst other national issues is Constitutional lawyer and senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mike Ozekhome
