Jungle Betta Tank Accessories For A Thriving Tank! (Light, Filter, Heater)

Here are all the accessories I use in my betta tank setup, along with some tips based on my own experience keeping bettas in a thriving planted nano aquarium. 1. Lighting – Hygger 957 Aquarium Light For lighting, I’m using the Hygger 957, a reliable, budget-friendly aquarium light that provides full-spectrum lighting suitable for growing aquatic plants. I currently run it at maximum intensity for 8 hours per day. Originally, I only had it set for 6 hours, but I increased the photoperiod to help enhance the vibrant pink and red tones in my Cryptocoryne nurii. The Hygger 957 has touch controls and adjustable brightness, making it a solid option for nano tanks like mine. 2. Filtration – Nicrew Slim Hang-On-Back Filter My filter of choice is the Nicrew Slim HOB, which I honestly believe is one of the best hang-on-back filters currently available for nano aquariums. It’s quiet, compact, and has adjustable flow. However, I don’t use the stock filter cartridges it comes with. Instead, I cut my own 30ppi sponge for biological filtration and add filter floss for mechanical filtration. This makes the filter both more effective and much cheaper to maintain long-term. Customizing your filter media is a great way to improve water quality and reduce waste. 3. Heater – Fluval T Series Adjustable Heater To maintain a consistent water temperature of 27°C (81°F), I’m using the Fluval T Series heater. Bettas thrive in warmer water, and while many inexpensive heaters struggle to stay stable above 25°C, the Fluval T Series has proven to be the most reliable and consistent in my experience. It comes with a digital display and external temperature controls, which adds convenience and peace of mind. 4. Floating Plant Ring for Frogbit To manage the surface plants in my tank, I use a 3D floating plant ring, which keeps my Amazon Frogbit in one place and prevents it from being disrupted by the filter’s current. When Frogbit floats freely, it often gets pushed around or stuck in the outflow, which can damage the plant or cause inconsistent coverage. Using a plant ring helps keep it healthy and evenly distributed. 5. 3D Printed Houseplant Holder – MMS Designs on Etsy I also incorporate a 3D printed houseplant holder from MMS Designs on Etsy. It holds a variety of semi-aquatic and terrestrial plants, including Pothos, Tradescantia, Peace Lily, and even a small Monstera. The roots grow into the tank and help remove nitrates while adding a unique visual element above the waterline. 6. Grow Light for Houseplants To support the growth of those above-water plants, I added a budget-friendly generic grow light aimed at the tops of the houseplants. Even with strong tank lighting, overhead plants often don’t get enough direct light indoors, so the grow light helps them stay healthy and vibrant. This setup creates a peaceful, stable environment for my betta fish, while also supporting lush aquatic and terrestrial plant growth. Every piece of equipment I use has been tested in real-world conditions over time, and I only recommend products I’ve personally found to be reliable and effective. If you’re looking to build a similar betta tank, I hope this breakdown helps you choose the right accessories! Let me know in the comments what you're using in your own setup, or if you have any questions about the products mentioned in this video. #betta #bettafish #bettafishtank
