Shanghai medics perform first collaborative adolescent double-Lung transplant​

A 14-year-old girl from NW China's Xinjiang has been fighting for her life due to pulmonary arterial hypertension, a disease shares several cancer-like mechanisms, including uncontrolled cell proliferation and resistance to apoptosis, leading to narrowed pulmonary arteries and right heart failure. Shanghai Children’s Medical Center and Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital launched a green emergency channel and jointly performed a double lung transplant under extracorporeal circulation support.
