A Critical Look at The Future War - Why Terminator Salvation Fails the Franchise

Terminator: Salvation (2009) was an interesting idea - on paper. The Future War has been looming at the back of the minds of every fan of the franchise and the snippets we had seen in the first three installments only added to the conceptualization of the Future War - the war for survival after Judgment Day. But this film fails to deliver what was promised. Not only is it not a good movie, but it is such an extreme departure from everything we had previously seen of the Future War. Sure, you can take the creative freedom to give a different version or perspective of the Future War. But the film is bad in its own right. The story is severely lacking. The world-building is practically non-existent and the performances are beyond flat.
