Welcome to Verdant Delta — Croc Pavilion at Kraal Ridge Zoo! 🐊🌿 This is my biggest indoor aquatic build so far: a huge, light-filled pavilion that houses four crocodilian species across four separate water enclosures — Dwarf Caiman, Spectacled (Broad-snouted) Caiman, Gharial, and American Alligator. What you’ll see in this episode: • Pavilion overview — layout, skylights, planting and the Verdant Delta atmosphere. 🌱🏛️ • Four water enclosures — individual habitat design for each species (depth, banks, basking platforms). 🐊🪵 • Underwater view — close-up underwater camera-style panel for the dwarf caiman (really photogenic!). 🐟🪟 • Species highlights & welfare — short facts and how I set up enrichment, heating, and hiding areas. 📋✅ Dwarf Caiman (Caiman n. / dwarf caiman) — small, agile, great for underwater viewing. Spectacled / Broad-snouted Caiman — more robust, likes shallow banks and grazing areas. Gharial — long-snouted specialist; requires deep channels and open basking platforms. American Alligator — large, powerful, needs roomy water and sunning beaches.
