Return to Bristol VFR departure and an IFR arrival

Due to some showers in the Bristol area and for currency I decided to return to Bristol IFR, Colerne tower rang Bristol to inform them of my intentions prior to departure as its a short flight, this gave Bristol more time to sequence all the arrivals. No clearance was given but it certainly sped things up. This starts with a VFR departure, headed north to get clear of all airspace and give me time to get the ATIS etc. Once handed over to Bristol radar they asked me to remain clear of controlled airspace and eventually started getting me towards Bristol. Very nice flight and a half decent ILS approach. The reference to not trusting the instruments is due to the last time flying this A/C the glidelsope failed half way down the approach in IMC. This time it all worked perfectly.
