Bolt Action V3 British Airborne Vs Germans AKA Lonsdale's stand at The Oude Kerk, Oosterbeek.

In this episode of ‪@lessonsfromthefront‬, we recreate the desperate fighting around the Oude Kerk at Oosterbeek during the final days of Operation Market Garden, September 1944. Using ‪@warlordgames‬ Bolt Action Version 3 Rule set, in a 1,250 point game, we explore Lieutenant Colonel Lonsdale’s stand as the British 1st Airborne clung to a shrinking perimeter along the northern bank of the Lower Rhine. Filmed on a custom-built 6′×4′ table, this narrative battle report follows the clash around the church itself — a position that still stands today on Benedendorpsweg. Fog of War, artillery barrages, close-quarters fighting, and critical command decisions all shape a game where timing and terrain matter as much as firepower. Richard flew in from Perth, Australia to command Lonsdale’s airborne defenders, while I lead the German assault, probing the perimeter and committing armour at the decisive moment. This is more #than a game. It’s a respectful remembrance of a real place, real men, and a desperate stand at the end of Market Garden.
