Happy International Clinical Trials Day! Clinical trials are essential for advancing medical research that addresses the most pressing health issues globally. In collaboration with our partner institutions in Africa, the Clinical Research Department at the Bernhard Nocht Institute of Tropical Medicine conducts clinical trials to develop novel and safe treatment options and vaccines for tropical diseases such as malaria, Lassa fever, and loiasis. These diseases continue to pose significant public health challenges, and disproportionally affect disadvantaged communities in Sub-Saharan Africa. On this International Clinical Trials Day, we spotlight eWHORM – a joint project by African and European institutions aimed at eradicating worm infections in Sub-Saharan Africa.
