Battle Conditions: Limited Crystarium Use No Equipment Upgrade Treasure/Drop/Reward Equipment Only Sub-3:00 Battle Duration (2:32) Full Playlist:    • FFXIII - Low Development Playthrough   ====================================================== This battle aims to show how to get the Growth Egg as early as possible with little prior grinding. So, the "starting weapons only", "no accessories" and "no shrouds" conditions were dropped since they're rather pointless and counterintuitive for the purpose. This was recorded just after starting Chapter 13. However, this can definitely be done after beating the end boss of Chapter 11. =Setup= Vanille: Must have access to Death, Imperilga, Quake, Curaja, and a Tier 3 RAV spell (-aga). Belladonna Wand was equipped for its Improved Debuffing passive ability. Hope: Must have access to Curasa, Curaja, En-Element and Tier 3 RAV spell. In this case, I already have Enfrost activated from fighting Adamanchelid, so I had Hope (and Vanille) learn Blizzaga. Fang: Was chosen as Sentinel instead of Snow since I didn't activate her Counter-type abilities, Vendetta and Entrench. Even though Snow has Paladin with the Improved Guard passive ability, the passive doesn't apply unless he's using Steelguard or Mediguard. Since the Sentinel AI prioritizes Entrench/Vendetta (which are only half as effective at defending against damage compared to Steelguard and Mediguard) when at high HP, Snow constantly ended up at risk of being overwhelmed by damage due to favoring Vendetta (a mandatory ability for him) which rendered Paladin's passive useless. Equipment: All equipment were gained either from Treasure Chests, Enemy Drops, or Mission Rewards (lots of Platinum Bangles are scattered in Gran Pulse). I focused mainly on physical resistance and, luckily, the Platinum Bangles are part of the Physical Defense synthesis group, so pairing them with Black Belts enabled me to synthesize Physical Wall which reduces damage taken from each hit by 5/10/20/30, depending how many Physical Defense type equipment a character has. Ninurta and Bladed Lance weapons were specifically chosen because they were part of this Synthesis Group. ====================================================== =Start of Battle= Neochu always starts off the battle with its tentacle attack. Ideally, you'd want the Sentinel to be the target. But because of its random nature before the Sentinel successfully Provokes, I had Vanille help out Hope as a Medic in case either of them gets hit first. Once everyone's HP is at a safe level, and Neochu has been Provoked, stick Imperil on Neochu to double the chances of Death taking effect. Death has a base chance of 1%. That percentage increases by 1% for every debuff the enemy is afflicted with. Unfortunately, Neochu is immune to everything except Imperil. Still, it's better than nothing. With this setup, about 5-7 Deaths can be cast before Neochu uses Screech. There's absolutely no chance of surviving Screech, so you'll wanna cross your fingers and hope that Death lands before then. =After Death= Once Death procs, use Imperilga to get as many Picochus weak to elemental damage (except Water damage) as possible. Then, use Libra so that Hope will cast EnElements on the party. For this case, I used a Librascope since the TP was needed for Quake and Summoning. Note that Provoke will fall off after around 1 minute of battle time. Keep an eye when the Sentinel comes out of Guard stance and starts Provoking/Challenging. You'd want Vanille to help Hope with healing, until its safe again to attack, in case either of them get swarmed by the Picos. Cast Quake to establish a base for Chain building on all Picos. Then use the Tier3+Tier2 RAV spells on each Pico, one-by-one. After 2-3 rounds of RAV spells, recast Quake before you lose the Chain you've built up. After casting RAV spells on the 4th Pico, summon Hecaton and cast one more round of RAV spells on the 5th and last Pico to build the Gestalt Gauge. During this time, Hecaton will use Quake (which I assume works similarly to the Quake Technique) which'll further help maintain the Chain on all Picos. Switch to Gestalt Mode immediately after the Gauge is filled and Quake is cast since Vanille might get swarmed by the Picos and Hecaton doesn't have the Curaga ability to help. Cycle through all the Picochus to check on their Chain Gauges and spam Missile Tetrad, an AoE attack that homes in on every target on the field. If you've managed to maintain Chain on every Pico, Gaian Salvo is sure to clear the field. Execute the finisher when all Picos have at least 300% Chain to ensure Stagger and get the kill. Even if Gaian Salvo doesn't manage to kill every Pico because some lost their Chain, they should be easy enough to dispose of with Imperil, EnElement, and RAV spells. =Other= Nice to see that the Ochus and sheep get along.
