A female in her 40s presents with chest pain and has an X-Ray. What does it show and what is the differential? ——————————————————— BENIGN METASTASISING LEIOMYOMAS 👨🏽💻A difficult diagnosis - this case is all about recognising the lung nodules and coming up with a sensible differential and management plan. Lung metastases need to be considered and in a patient of this age, breast cancer is a possible primary 👨🏽💻The presence of fibroids in a patient with unexplained well defined lung nodules always alerts me to the possibility of benign metastasising leiomyomas. Here there are benign intrauterine fibroids with leiomyomas also found at extra-uterine sites, possibly due to haematogenous spread. 👨🏽💻The nodules tend not to grow rapidly but can cause symptoms. Many can be managed conservatively and sometimes the nodules can regress spontaneously given hormonal changes. In other cases treatment is necessary given symptoms and can include hormonal manipulation, embolisation and surgery 👨🏽💻Not the most common diagnosis but it is something I have seen more than once - so something to keep in mind when you see multiple unexplained well defined nodules with underlying fibroids 🔽For the full series of case breakdowns make sure you check out and subscribe to my YouTube channel - you can get notified for when the latest case comes out 🔻@theradiologistpage —— ☑️Patient consent obtained #medicine #medicalstudent #medicos #physician #xray #chestxray #radiology #radiologia #nurse #nursepractitioner #physicianassistant #surgeon #xraytech #xraystudent #radiologie #radiologytech #radtech #xrayschool #medicalprofessionals #medica #medico #physicians #radiologist #theradiologist #ctscan #chestct #usmle #frcr
