Applying a simple shellac finish to a sunburst table

Almost at the finish line with my coffee table so it's time to apply the finish. The solid cherry base and legs have been hand planed and scraped so no sanding was necessary and I brushed on two coats of garnet shellac. The mahogany veneered top was sanded with 220 grit paper and then a couple of coats of orange shellac applied. I then sanded back the shellac with 500 grit paper on all surfaces and padded on more shellac until I was happy with the finish. It's important not to wipe off the shellac dust as subsequent coats of shellac redissolve the dust and force it into the open wood pores as an excellent type of filler.
