Unlike numerous Reliant based trikes this creation, probably made about 2002-3, has been properly registered with DVLA and has its own make name "Purple Haze" and a unique non Reliant VIN. This is most important if there is a 3rd party insurance claim. The insurance of a trike of this sort of construction using motorcycle forks and a one off tubular frame based on a cloned Reliant Regal, Robin or Rialto registration in liable to be null a void. Tax and MOT exemption is also not applicable unless the whole Reliant chassis was used as well. A less common feature of this build is the rear radiator with coolant passing from front to back via the lower part of the tubular frame. I was pleased to get this bought unexamined AND delivered from Birmingham for a total outlay of £1350. It doesn't need much work for its MOT. A search of the internet when it was on sale/swap back around 2012 for about three times as much revealed a lot of work done, particularly a major engine rebuild including pistons and liners. It used to be purple but I suppose black is a more practical colour to hide the dirt. Wiring is a bit improvised and could be improved but it seems adequate for now and with my expanding roster of project vehicles if it passes the test it may have to stay as is unless circuits go bad.
