Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus: Gessen Mission 1-04: Evil Eating Good (Yumi, Kurokage VN)

While the Gessen Girls continued their training, Yumi was worried about her ill grandfather, Kurokage. Yozakura asked Yumi for the details, but the following Visual Novel sequence is told from Kurokage's point of view. As Kurokage himself explains, he is not only Yumi's grandfather, but also the adoptive grandpa of the rest of Yumi's allies. He raised them all to be good shinobi at Gessen Girls' Academy. They followed his philosophy of using their light to rid the entire world of evil abd darkness. However, Kurokage did not intend for this. In reality, he wanted his granddaughters to follow their own path. He is deeply worried that following his path will cost them all of their innocent lives. Yumi doesn't know this, however, and intends to make her grandfather's ideals come true. Yumi is training her team to defeat all evil shinobi, but there's now another reason why she wants to go after Hanzo Academy, first. Although the Hanzo girls are good shinobi like the Gessen Girls are, Yumi has discovered that they have aligned with evil shinobi, as well. Yumi believes this to be evil's way of corrupting the good, and intends to punish Hanzo Academy for their crimes against their own morality. With that in mind, Yumi is motivated to have a sparring match against Yozakura. ---------- Yumi, leader of the Gessen Girls, is a young lady of beauty, grace, and elegance. Through her grandfather, Kurokage, she believes that the world can know peace only when all of evil is vanquished. Her traditional Japanese ladylike personality has made her a big favorite in Japan. Such a HUGE favorite, that she actually threatens to eclipse Asuka as the face of Senran Kagura, itself, if she's not sharing it with her, that is. However, Japan's immense love for Yumi is also why a majority Western fans loathe her, even with her having Westen fans, too. Those that don't take to Yumi tend to see her traditional Japanese personality as bland and boring compared to the more eccentric characters in the roster, such as Katsuragi and Hikage, let alone the characteristics of the other team leaders, such as Miyabi, Homura, and even Asuka, herself. Sadly for them, this doesn't seem to work against Yumi's Japanese popularity anytime soon... ---------- Yumi, like Yagyu, commands ice. Her weapons are folding fans, which she wields with elegant Japanese dancing. Interestingly, her spirit animal is the spider. Her primary Secret Ninja Art is Black Ice, where she launches a giant spear of ice at her opponents. Her secondary Secret Ninja Art is Ice Pillar Fan, where she gracefully twirls around while striking her foes with her fans. ---------- For Mission 1-04, win Yumi's sparring session against Yozakura. ---------- After the two girls finished their training, they admired each other's strength, but couldn't decide whom of each other was the strongest. It was slowly turning into an argument... Then, Shiki, Murakumo, and Minori arrived to break the squabble and remind Yumi and Yozakura to feed them all. Yumi blames evil for how this turned out, but Shiki's not really so sure about that... Thus ends Chapter 1 of Gessen's story. Yumi and her team will have dinner, and then face against Hanzo Academy in the Shinobi Battle Royale. ---------- And because Chapter 1 ended this early (4 parts instead of 5), I have to move on without even having controlled Shiki, yet. What a drag...
