1. Peace & Conflict Prevention / Resolution Rotary is fostering peace by equipping vulnerable young people with skills that open doors to better futures. In Kampala, the Rotary Club of Upper Kololo equips children on remand with life and employable skills to help them reintegrate and build productive lives once they return to their communities. In Hoima, the Rotary Club of Hoima Kitara works with Bwendero Dairy Farm Ltd to train youth from informal settlements. Many trainees are hired after their training, including Akankunda, who now works at the CO₂ plant and hopes that more young people can benefit from the same opportunity. These initiatives reduce vulnerability, promote reintegration, and help young people transition into stable and dignified livelihoods. 2. Disease Prevention & Treatment Expanding access to healthcare remains a key priority across the district. In Mityana, the Rotaract Club of Kampala North organized a medical camp that provided specialist care and general medical services to children and community members. In Wakiso, the Rotary Club of Nansana is upgrading a Health Centre II into a three-storey Health Centre IV equipped to provide higher-quality medical services to the surrounding community. Through outreach and infrastructure improvements, Rotary is strengthening health systems and ensuring more people receive the care they need. 3. Maternal & Child Health Rotary continues to improve maternal and newborn care in underserved communities. In Kitgum, the Rotary Club of Kitgum supports Kitgum General Hospital with essential maternity and neonatal equipment, including ultrasound machines, oxygen concentrators, and oxygen cylinders. These tools improve care for pregnant mothers and newborns requiring critical support. In Kyenjojo, the Rotary Clubs of Kasangati and Kyenjojo Metro conducted a medical camp offering immunisation, free treatment, blood donation, and other services for mothers and families. Through these efforts, Rotary is helping mothers experience safer pregnancies and babies receive healthier starts to life. 4. Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) Clean water and sanitation continue to transform communities and improve learning environments. In Fort Portal, the Rotary E-Club of Uganda Global installed a solar-powered water pump that produces up to 100,000 litres every three hours, serving two schools and the surrounding community. At Butiti Girls Primary School, the club also built modern flush latrines and improved access to clean water, creating a healthier and more supportive learning environment. These interventions strengthen community health and enhance the dignity and safety of students. 5. Basic Education & Literacy Rotary is expanding access to quality education and lifelong learning. In Gulu, the Rotary Club of Gulu supports Mother Earth Montessori School with early childhood education, adult literacy programs, solar power, and a borehole system—crucial support for a remote area with limited access to basic services. In Kampala, the Rotary Clubs of Kampala City, Kitante, and Kyadondo renovated and restocked the community library at Sister Miriam Duggan Primary School, giving pupils and community members access to new learning opportunities. Improved facilities and expanded resources are helping learners of all ages thrive. 6. Economic & Community Development Communities across the district are being strengthened through skills training and income-generating opportunities. In Mityana, the Rotary Club of Kabulasoke Gomba trains farmers like Deborah in economic and agricultural skills, helping them build sustainable livelihoods. In Gulu, the Rotary Club of Gulu City—working with Wend Africa—trains women in tailoring and product making. Their creations, including reusable sanitary pads, clothes, and toys, are sold to earn steady income for their households. These initiatives are empowering families, especially women, to create lasting economic stability. 7. Supporting the Environment Environmental restoration and conservation remain core components of Rotary’s work. In Kiboga, the Rotary Club of Kiboga, in partnership with the National Forestry Authority, is restoring the Bwezigoola-Gunga Central Forest Reserve. The project involves reintroducing indigenous tree species and protecting the buffer zone and water catchment area. Such efforts help protect biodiversity, strengthen ecosystems, and safeguard natural resources for future generations. Conclusion Across District 9213, Rotary members and partners are driving meaningful change—empowering youth, enhancing healthcare, supporting mothers and children, expanding access to clean water, strengthening education, improving livelihoods, and restoring the environment. Thank you to every Rotarian, Rotaractor, partner, and friend whose generosity makes this work possible. Together, we are truly united for good. Want a video like this?
