Succulent plants from the plant family Euphorbia are among my absolute favorite succulent plants - besides cacti (so the family of Cactaceae) of course!! These two groups of plants do look a little bit similar, however, they are completely unrelated. Yet, they have developed in quite similar ways, with somewhat similar morphologies, as perfect adaptations to dry, arid climates of semi-desert, full desert and grassland or savannah environments (a phenomenon commonly referred to as convergent evolution). I love growing especially these specially adapted succulent Euphorbias from arid and semi-arid areas of the African continent, but also occasionally Asia and South America. Actually plants belonging to the family of Euphorbia, also commonly called spurges, are found worldwide, even in humid and temperate climates. This video gives you a quick overview of my greenhouse-based Euphorbia collection, in a fly-by mode. I have decided not to add the names of the plants in this video - I will introduce the plants in smaller groups in future videos on this channel! Please enjoy!
