“Everyone makes mistakes, and we encourage students to learn from them, but there doesn’t seem to be many (if any) venues for us teachers to share our own mistakes and learn from them, and from each other. Here’s our chance for all of us to share some missteps we’ve had and what we’ve learned, common issues in our profession that we see across the board and ways to avoid these pitfalls, and even to get some advice from each other. It’s great to aspire to ‘best practices’ – but we’re human! And not every day can be a ‘best practices’ kind of day. The hope and intention is that we can learn from each other, maybe even share a few laughs, remind ourselves that mistakes and issues that we struggle with are a natural part of teaching that everyone shares.”
