Hari Om! Swami Aparajitananda discusses the list of comparisons in twelve contexts between ashvattha tree and samsāra vriksha (reference: Kathopanishad); and simplifies the way to cut samsāra vriksha i.e. to destroy ego and shift attention to Consciousness. Verse 4, second couplet: Swamiji emphasises the importance of the beautiful prayer to prepare mind, cultivate vairagya, to abide in and experience Consciousness as own Self. Meditation on witnessing thoughts is suggested, which can result in the experience of Parama-pūrna Sat. Verse 5: As a result of and benefit of the Knowledge, Mahātmās attain supreme state/abode. Mahātmās' natural qualities are clearly explained, which sādhakas have to cultivate consciously. The terms defining Mahātmās are exhaustively discussed and simplified leaving no confusion. Healthy outlook at BMI level and the reason behind it is explained. Swamiji points out that purpose of such description and discussion is to remove our psychological clutches and to make us hold on to Truth while living in the world. Verse 6: Description of Consciousness, based on Kathopanishad and Mundaka Upanishad and contained in Ārati mantra, is clarified in depth to show that Gītā is reflection of Upanishads. The second meaning of the terms sun, moon, fire is also explained. Swamiji also unfolds the beauty of the term gatvā (jñātvā) and the notional difference of ignorance. Verses 7, 8, 9: Topic: Jīvātmā is none other than Paramātmā, His expression; therefore, sanātana. These verses contain the mystic explanation of death and rebirth, viz. • What happens at the time of death to jīvātmā? • Why jīvātmā is termed as Ishvara? • How it leaves body, what it takes along, where it goes, how it goes and what it does there • How samsāra continues All these astonishing aspects are explained and simplified. (Bhagavad Gītā Chp. 15 - Talk 4 of 7 - Verses 4 to 9)
