I recently built my DNA 40 mod, and I was excited to build a temperature controlled mod. I was having a problem with cotton burning at one end of the coil with the burnt taste in the first minute of vaping. It turns out to be the coil build related challenge with nickel wire. One or two rounds of coil glow red while the rest stay cold with temperature regulated at 420F. I wish to learn the tricks to building better coils with Nickel200 wire to enjoy the temperature regulation feature of DNA 40 board. --------------------- UPDATE --------------------- With help from Evolv, I figured out what went wrong for me. Hi Partha, Thank you for the video, it makes diagnostics much easier. The problem appears to be, some coils are shorting to one another while others are not. Try building a coils with small spacing between the wraps. Remember the DNA 40 is reading the average temperature across the entire coil. If some of the coils are shorted and others not, you'll definitely get hot spots. That is why half of your coil was glowing while the other half remained cool. If you are going to build a micro-coil, be sure all coils are shorting. I have found it much easier to wrap with very small spacing than to attempt a fully shorted micro-coil and just as satisfying.
